POSITION: At-Risk Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Interventionist and CIT Coordinator
DESCRIPTION: The SEL Interventionist position is established for the purpose of providing systematic intervention to students at Grayling Elementary School. The primary purpose of the SEL Interventionist is to improve academic achievement for all students. The Interventionist will provide leadership to all staff in implementing Tier I and Tier II social-emotional initiatives and may serve as the District’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Coordinator, providing leadership in crisis prevention, response, training, and continuous improvement of district behavior support systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, social work, or other human services area.
- Training and experience in trauma-informed practices
- Proficient technology skills
- Excellent leadership and collaboration skills
- Promote and maintain positive student-teacher-family-community relationships
- Training in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Safety-Care, Handle With Care, or other approved crisis intervention methodology preferred.
- Experience leading teams and facilitating professional learning related to student behavior and crisis response is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Analyze behavioral and crisis-response data to identify trends, develop appropriate interventions, monitor their effectiveness, and improve student outcomes.
- Collaborate with personnel for the purpose of increasing student achievement by ensuring Tier I and II practices are implemented with fidelity
- Coordinate and lead the District’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), including crisis response procedures, required documentation and debriefings, staff consultation, and continuous improvement of district crisis intervention practices.
- Plan, coordinate, and provide professional learning in behavioral interventions, crisis prevention, de-escalation, and other evidence-based practices for district staff.
- Facilitate Student Success Team meetings with all stakeholders, including families, to determine intervention success and adjustments needed
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in developing, implementing, and evaluating behavioral interventions while collaborating with staff, administrators, and families to promote positive student behavior and well-being.
- Participate in district and building professional learning related to responsibilities; attend meetings and/or training outside of the designated schedule
- Collaborate with other school personnel to ensure that students and families are aware of and have access to the school resource center and other community resources
- Assume additional duties as assigned by the School Board, District Administration, Student Services Chairperson, or the Building Administration, including responsibilities related to coordinating the District’s Crisis Intervention Team.
- Coordinate pantry operation.

WORK CALENDAR: Roughly 207: Traditional Year calendar days, plus ELY student days before and after the Traditional Year calendar.
