The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the company’s performance in terms of aiding with Driver satisfaction and the efficiency in the Maintenance department. The Maintenance Assistant is expected to be a team player and communicate with the Shop Supervisors and Shop Managers in a thorough and timely fashion. A professional attitude is a basic requirement along with a firm understanding of what constitutes good service to our Drivers and co-workers.
Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00-3:30 pm, requires every 3rd Saturday rotation
-Ability to come in at 5:30 am during winter months for snow removal
Duties
- General shop cleaning
- Cleaning company vehicles including company tractors.
- General shop duties including parts pickup, and detail work.
- Safety inspections of fire extinguishers, exit signs, etc.
- Inspection and maintenance of fuel island
- Complete maintenance projects throughout the yard as needed and assigned.
- Empty bins of trash and recycling around the yard and in the office
- Possible grounds maintenance including mowing lawn, weed whipping, shoveling snow, and snow blowing.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various systems.
- Ability to fabricate parts or components as necessary for repairs.
- Previous experience with supervising tasks or teams is a plus.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing work environments.
