Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for each appointment
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental tools, suctioning, and maintaining patient comfort throughout procedures
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging when necessary to support comprehensive patient care
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with experience in chairside assisting across various specialties including pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity Open Dental
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, iTero, and Zoom Whitening
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages, especially pediatrics
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding related to dental procedures for accurate record keeping
- Experience working in a fast-paced dental clinic environment with a focus on general dentistry or specialized fields like endodontics or prosthodontics is preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment practicing four-handed dentistry for increased efficiency
