Job Summary:
The Forestry intern will be supporting the Urban Forester and Forestry crews in the maintenance and management of our urban and park tree inventories. This role is ideal for someone passionate about the environment, eager to learn more about urban forestry, and looking to gain hands-on experience in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in identifying various tree species
- The intern will be walking several miles per day
- Operate power equipment to trim grass, shrubbery, and trees, as well as edge sidewalks and flower beds.
- Assist in moving materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Help with the transplantation of trees, shrubs, and flowers.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Must be age 18 or older.
- Must have a basic knowledge of forestry, dendrology, and tree species identification.
- A student of Forestry, Park Management, Horticulture, or other Natural Resources is preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles. The employee will be walking multiple miles per day on rough terrain.
