We are seeking a Medical Assistant to become a part of our team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; ECG, reporting patient history summary and current medications list.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential and organized in the patient EMR.
- Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about cardiology procedures and tests.
- Schedules cardiac cath, stress test, echocardiogram and other tests by making arrangements with hospital; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, insurance authorizations, pre-admission and consent forms.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Serves and protects the cardiology practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value
- Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in healthcare administration or other related fields
- Medical assistant degree from accredited NJ program or eligible for national or state medical assistant test.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
