The Cardiovascular Center of Florida is seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled, and patient-focused Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our growing outpatient cardiology practice. Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct clinical support to physicians and advanced practice providers within a busy outpatient cardiology practice. The LPN is responsible for coordinating patient care, assisting with examinations and office procedures, performing clinical assessments within scope of practice, documenting patient encounters, providing patient education, and ensuring efficient clinical operations while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and service.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, allergies, and chief complaints.
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and other clinical testing as directed.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and office-based procedures.
- Administer medications and injections within the scope of licensure.
- Coordinate prescription refill requests in accordance with provider protocols.
- Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, diagnostic testing, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, imaging, and specialty appointments.
- Communicate laboratory and diagnostic results to patients as directed by the provider.
- Monitor patient concerns and communicate changes in condition to the provider.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensure examination rooms and clinical equipment remain stocked, organized, and compliant with infection prevention standards.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, organizational policies, and clinical quality standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to promote efficient patient flow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
- Current Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience required.
- Previous experience working in a specialty physician practice is required.
- Cardiology experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience performing EKGs, medication reconciliation, patient triage, and clinical documentation preferred.
- Experience utilizing electronic health records (EHR) in an outpatient clinical setting required.
