Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Coffee Roaster to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the coffee roasting process, ensuring the highest quality standards are met while maintaining a safe and efficient production environment. Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation of coffee roasting machines, monitoring temperature, airflow, and roast profiles to achieve desired flavor characteristics.
- Support the cleaning and sanitation of roasting equipment and production areas in compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
- Help with material handling tasks, including loading green coffee beans, packaging finished products, and managing inventory in the warehouse.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime, applying mechanical knowledge and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Follow safety protocols during all phases of production, including proper handling of industrial chemicals and heavy lifting procedures.
- Assist in quality assurance checks throughout the roasting and packaging process to ensure consistency and adherence to food safety standards.
- Support team members in maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment by adhering to sanitation practices and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in beverage manufacturing or food & beverage production is preferred; craft beer experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with equipment troubleshooting, machine operation, and mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures, HACCP, CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), and food safety protocols.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts safely; forklift certification is advantageous.
- Strong manual handling skills with the ability to lift heavy loads safely during warehouse tasks.
- Basic math skills for measurements, recipe adjustments, and quality checks.
- Experience working in a beverage manufacturing or food industry setting with an emphasis on safety standards.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude towards learning and process improvement.
