The Elementary School Teacher for Grades K–5 is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in core subject areas including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The teacher fosters a positive classroom environment that supports academic growth, social-emotional development, and character building for upper elementary students.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state and district standards.
- Teach core subjects including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Integrate technology and hands-on learning experiences into daily instruction.
- Differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities and learning styles.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments.
- Monitor academic progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Prepare report cards and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
Classroom Management
- Establish clear classroom rules and procedures.
- Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution skills.
- Support students’ social-emotional development.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, support staff, and administrators.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Work with special education staff to implement IEPs and 504 plans as needed.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing training and development.
- Adhere to school policies and educational regulations.
- Serve as a positive role model for students.
