Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi dishes with precision and creativity, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation, and safety. Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty items, following established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Select fresh ingredients and ensure proper storage to preserve quality and freshness
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service
- Monitor inventory levels of seafood, rice, seaweed, and other supplies; place orders as needed
- Educate team members on sushi techniques and culinary best practices
- Uphold food safety standards by practicing proper handling, sanitation, and storage procedures
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and Japanese culinary traditions
- Strong skills in knife handling, fish filleting, and ingredient presentation
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure consistent quality and aesthetic appeal
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on quality
- Experience in curriculum development or training others in culinary skills is a plus
- Familiarity with classroom management or teaching methods related to culinary arts or food safety training
- Creative mindset with an eye for artistic plating and presentation
- Knowledge of health regulations related to seafood handling and food service safety
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Passion for continuous learning about new sushi trends, ingredients, and techniques
