At Viola's Bar & Bistro, our bar is an extension of the guest experience. As a Bartender, you are responsible for crafting exceptional cocktails, wine, coffee, and beverage service while creating genuine connections with every guest. This role requires technical skill, professionalism, and an eye for detail to ensure each beverage reflects the elegance and quality that define Viola's.
Whether serving guests at the bar, supporting the dining room, or recommending the perfect wine pairing, our Bartenders are hospitality professionals who elevate every interaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, espresso beverages, and non-alcoholic drinks according to Viola's recipes and presentation standards.
- Deliver attentive, knowledgeable, and personalized service to every guest.
- Maintain expert knowledge of our cocktail menu, wines, spirits, coffee program, and food offerings.
- Recommend beverages and pairings based on guest preferences.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all beverage orders for both bar and dining room service.
- Accurately operate the POS system and process guest transactions.
- Verify guest identification and comply with all California alcohol service laws.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service.
- Prepare fresh garnishes, syrups, juices, and bar mise en place before each shift.
- Monitor inventory and communicate shortages or ordering needs to management.
- Perform opening, closing, and daily cleaning procedures for the bar.
- Work collaboratively with servers, baristas, kitchen staff, and management to ensure seamless service.
- Assist with dining room support and guest service whenever needed.
Qualifications
- Previous bartending experience in a restaurant, wine bar, or upscale hospitality environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits.
- Experience with espresso service is a plus.
- Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required (or ability to obtain before employment).
- California Food Handler Card required (or ability to obtain).
- Strong communication and hospitality skills.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Safely work around glassware, ice, and commercial beverage equipment.
- Perform repetitive movements while preparing beverages efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the shift.
Pay: $19.00 - $19.50 per hour
