Position Title: Special Education Teacher (ICT - NY)
Summary: The role of the ICT teacher is to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum. ICT teachers will document student progress, activities and outcomes, address student’s specific needs, and provide a safe and optimal learning environment. This is a co-teaching position, in which the special education teacher and the general education teacher plan collaboratively and implement the lesson collaboratively supporting all students.
Compensation: Base Salary-Certified-$73,500, (Adv. Degrees $3,000 for masters, $5,000 for doctorate). $200/ year for applicable experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- Secondary Education Specialization: Childhood Education (1-6) and Students with Disabilities (SWD) Certification
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the CEO finds appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities:
- iLearn Schools Inc. staff are expected to actively uphold the school's mission and vision, supporting all administrative and board decisions. This role requires high ethical and professional standards when interacting with students, parents, staff, and external partners.
- Key duties include assisting with the charter school renewal process and ensuring strict adherence to all federal, state, and internal iLearn policies and regulations, including those for confidentiality, affirmative action, and emergency response. Staff must promptly report any concerns related to student well-being, such as abuse or substance influence. Effective, professional communication, both written and verbal, is essential.
- Regarding student support, staff will assess learning issues, develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), and provide counseling to foster student growth and manage behavior. They'll also coordinate with external agencies and other staff to address student needs, serving as a critical link between home and school. This includes collecting data for various reports and maintaining accurate student records for future opportunities.
- Finally, operational responsibilities involve effective classroom time management, designing assignments that promote critical thinking, and supervising students in all activities. Staff are also responsible for managing inventory, requisitioning supplies, and attending school events as required. Additional duties within the scope of employment and certification may also be assigned.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with New York state law and the provisions of the iLearn Schools policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
