Senior Access Control & Gate Systems Technician Job Overview
A growing security integration and technology company is seeking an experienced Senior Access Control & Gate Systems Technician to join our team. This position focuses on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of the systems that control and secure a property's primary access points. You will work with access control systems, vehicle and pedestrian gates, gate operators, call boxes, surveillance systems, networking equipment, and low-voltage infrastructure serving commercial properties, multifamily communities, HOAs, resorts, schools, and government facilities.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled field technician who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working independently, and delivering exceptional customer service while supporting critical security and entrance management systems.

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot access control systems, including card readers, credentials, keypads, mobile credentials, and biometric devices.
- Install and service vehicle gates, pedestrian gates, gate operators, barrier arms, safety devices, loop detectors, and related automation equipment.
- Configure and troubleshoot call boxes, telephone entry systems, visitor management systems, and intercom platforms.
- Diagnose and repair gate motors, relays, contactors, power supplies, safety circuits, photo eyes, loop detectors, and access control hardware.
- Install and maintain CCTV, LPR cameras, video surveillance systems, and associated networking equipment.
- Perform low-voltage cabling, conduit installation, terminations, and field device commissioning.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, shop drawings, and manufacturer documentation.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving switches, routers, wireless bridges, cellular communicators, and cloud-managed security platforms.
- Support community entrances, commercial facilities, apartment communities, resorts, schools, and government sites.
- Document all work performed, including service notes, testing results, photographs, and recommendations.
- Communicate professionally with property managers, facility managers, maintenance personnel, contractors, and end users.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements, preventative maintenance, and modernization.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, and troubleshooting access control, gate automation, CCTV, or related low-voltage security systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving gate operators, relays, power supplies, loop detectors, photo eyes, access control panels, and field devices.
- Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring practices, electrical troubleshooting, and networking fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and construction documents.
- Experience working in commercial, multifamily, HOA, industrial, educational, or government environments.
- Knowledge of NEC standards and safe work practices.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturer certifications in Brivo, ICT, CDVI, Paxton, PDK, or similar platforms.
- Experience with gate operators such as LiftMaster, DoorKing, HySecurity, Viking, MAX, or comparable systems.
- CCTV and video surveillance installation and troubleshooting experience.
- Networking experience, including switches, VLANs, wireless networking, and remote connectivity.
- Locksmithing or electronic door hardware experience.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, BICSI, or related industry certifications.
