Job Posting: All City Jazz Band Director Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic All City Jazz Band Director to lead a district-wide beginner jazz ensemble. This position offers the opportunity to work with student musicians selected from across the district, helping them build a strong foundation in jazz performance, including ensemble playing, improvisation basics, stylistic understanding, and musical collaboration in a supportive and enriching environment. Key Responsibilities Plan and conduct engaging weekly rehearsals Develop students jazz skills, ensemble playing, and musicianship Select appropriate repertoire for performers Prepare students for a successful culminating performance Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe rehearsal environment Coordinate logistics for rehearsals and concert performance Qualifications Experience working with young instrumental ensembles (preferred) Knowledge of jazz styles and pedagogy Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to motivate and inspire young musicians Reliable attendance and commitment to the full program schedule Time Commitment Approximately 80-90 hours of work from October through April Performance Responsibilities The All City Jazz Band Director will prepare students for and oversee participation in: All City Jazz Concert (April) Compensation Stipend: $3000
