Job Summary
Byrom Enterprises (part of the Byrom’s Body Shop family) is seeking a meticulous, detail-oriented Paint Prep Technician to join our growing Airport Division.
Important Note on Work Location:This position operates off-site at our airport facility, NOT at the main body shop location. While you will be an integral part of the Byrom’s Body Shop family and benefit from our established standards, your day-to-day operations will be dedicated entirely to our aviation/airport department.
In this role, you will focus on preparing aircraft/automotive parts and surfaces for paint. For the right candidate who demonstrates consistency, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic, this position offers a clear pathway to learn and advance into a full Painter role.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, mask, prime, and prep parts and surfaces thoroughly according to strict quality guidelines prior to paint application.
- Hand & Power Tool Operation: Safely use basic hand tools, pneumatic sanders, grinders, and block sanding equipment to achieve smooth, flawless finishes.
- Instruction & Compliance: Strictly follow technical procedures, safety protocols, and daily direction provided by senior techs or supervisors.
- Quality Control: Inspect prepped surfaces for minor imperfections, scratches, or unevenness before passing parts along to the booth.
- Workplace Maintenance: Keep the airport work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Hand Tool Experience: Familiarity with basic manual and pneumatic/power tools.
- Uncompromising Attention to Detail: A sharp eye for subtle surface imperfections, precise masking lines, and consistency.
- Ability to Follow Directions: Strong commitment to listening, following technical instructions, and adhering to strict quality controls without cutting corners.
- Adaptable Work Ethic: Self-motivated and capable of working focused and independently off-site.
- Prior Automotive or Industrial Prep Experience: (Preferred, but willing to train the right candidate with strong foundational tool skills).

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
