This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Paraprofessional Tutor - Mathematics - Hereford Academic Success Center who will be all-in on our mission and provides academic support to students through individual and small-group tutoring sessions both inside and outside the classroom. This position assists students proactively and remedially by reinforcing course concepts, developing effective learning strategies, and fostering academic confidence and independence. Tutors play a vital role in helping students improve academic performance, strengthen problem-solving skills, and achieve their educational goals.

The Paraprofessional Tutor supports this mission by creating a welcoming and productive learning environment while promoting student engagement, persistence, and success.
EDUCATION:
Required: Completion of a freshman-level college mathematics course with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Preferred: Completion of sophomore-level college coursework, including two (2) or more mathematics courses, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Completion of at least six (6) college credit hours.
Preferred: Previous tutoring, mentoring, peer coaching, or instructional support experience in high school or college-level courses.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

6 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move office supplies, instructional materials, and other equipment up to twenty-five (25) pounds as needed.
Work Conditions: This is a part-time position budgeted for a maximum of nineteen (19) hours per week. Work schedules may vary based on student demand and Academic Success Center operating hours.
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional educational and office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, copiers, printers, and related technology.
