Position Overview
NAMI Metro Suburban is a grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals, families, and communities affected by mental health conditions through support, education, advocacy, and outreach.
The Director of Living Room Programs provides leadership, clinical oversight, and operational management for NAMI Metro Suburban's Living Room Programs. The Living Room is a peer-led, recovery-oriented alternative to emergency room care that offers individuals experiencing emotional distress a welcoming, non-clinical environment where they can receive support from trained Peer Recovery Support Specialists.
This position oversees the administration, quality assurance, staff development, and sustainability of three Living Room programs serving the western suburbs of Cook County. The Director works collaboratively with program leadership to ensure services are person-centered, trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and compliant with all funding and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Oversight
- Provide leadership and oversight for all Living Room Program operations.
- Partner with Program Managers to ensure consistent implementation of program policies, procedures, and service standards across all sites.
- Monitor program performance and outcomes through data analysis, quality improvement activities, and participant feedback.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance service delivery, increase community impact, and support program growth.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, accreditation standards, and applicable state regulations.
Staff Leadership and Development
- Provide direct supervision to Program Managers and support their professional growth and development.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and recovery-oriented organizational culture.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and ongoing professional development activities.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention planning efforts.
- Promote staff wellness and a workplace culture grounded in respect, inclusion, and continuous learning.
Clinical and Programmatic Oversight
- Provide clinical consultation and guidance to Program Managers and staff as appropriate.
- Support crisis intervention efforts and assist with complex situations requiring clinical expertise.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards, trauma-informed practices, and recovery-oriented principles.
- Monitor service quality and fidelity to the Living Room model.
- Coordinate and oversee Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) on-call coverage and scheduling.
Community Engagement and Partnerships
- Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, behavioral health providers, first responders, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Represent NAMI Metro Suburban in community meetings, coalitions, and public presentations.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen referral pathways and increase awareness of Living Room services.
Administrative and Fiscal Responsibilities
- Monitor resource utilization and support fiscal sustainability efforts.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with organizational and funding requirements.
- Support grant development, implementation, and reporting activities.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
