Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor / General Manager
Job Type: Full-Time | Hourly
Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Manual Machinist with experience in machining precision components using Mills, Lathes, & VTL performing complex operations such milling, drilling, boring and threading. This role involves working on a wide variety of industrial parts for sectors like power generation, and heavy equipment repair. You will operatemanual machines to repair or manufacture and restore critical components with high accuracy and quality. CNC experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and VTL’s. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical instructions.
- Perform machining work including but not limited to:
- Line boring and milling
- Turning, grooving, and threading
- Valve stems, Journal grinding, shafts
- Maintain strict dimensional tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
- Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
Requirements:
- Five years’ experience running lathes, mills, and VTL’s.
- Ability to inspect and verify tight tolerances on critical dimensions and finishes.
- Comfortable working with both new part manufacturing and repair/restoration work.
- Familiarity with overhead cranes, and shop safety procedures.
- Legal to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in job-shop, industrial service, or heavy equipment repair environments.
- Machining larger parts
- CNC machining experience
