SHO Asian Table | Red Bank, NJ
SHO Asian Table is seeking energetic, dependable Bar Assistants (Barbacks) and Service Assistants to join our team in a fast-paced, upscale restaurant environment.
These are hands-on support positions for individuals who work with urgency, stay organized, anticipate the needs of the team, and take pride in creating an exceptional guest experience.
Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required for these positions.
Both roles provide opportunities to learn and grow within SHO. Bar Assistants may have the opportunity to advance into Bartender positions, while Service Assistants may have opportunities to advance into Server or other front-of-house roles based on performance, experience, training, and business needs.
Bar Assistant (Barback)
Bar Assistants work closely with our bartenders to keep the bar fully stocked, organized, clean, and prepared for service.
Responsibilities
- Keep bar stations stocked, organized, and service-ready throughout the shift.
- Restock beer, wine, spirits, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other supplies.
- Replenish ice and maintain ice wells.
- Wash, polish, organize, and restock glassware.
- Assist with bar setup, breakdown, opening, and closing responsibilities.
- Prepare garnishes and other approved bar-prep items according to SHO standards.
- Remove empty bottles, glassware, trash, and recycling promptly and safely.
- Maintain clean and sanitary bar stations, storage areas, coolers, sinks, and service areas.
- Retrieve products and supplies for bartenders during service.
- Receive, organize, rotate, and properly store beverage inventory as directed.
- Communicate low-stock items and supply needs to bartenders and management.
- Follow all sanitation, responsible alcohol-service, workplace safety, and company procedures.
Bar Assistant Qualifications
- Previous barback, restaurant, hospitality, or high-volume service experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to anticipate the needs of the bar team.
- Interest in learning beverage service and developing bartending skills is a plus.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must complete all required onboarding, training, and applicable alcohol-service requirements.
Bar Assistant Compensation
$6.05 per hour plus tips.
This is a tipped position. Bar Assistants are eligible to receive tips in accordance with applicable law and SHO's tip distribution or pooling practices. If an employee's direct wages and tips do not equal the applicable minimum wage, SHO will pay any required difference in accordance with federal and New Jersey law.
Bar Assistants may have the opportunity to advance to a Bartender position based on performance, qualifications, successful completion of required training, and business needs.
Service Assistant
Service Assistants support our servers and dining room team to ensure tables are properly prepared, guests receive attentive service, and the dining room remains organized and service-ready.
Responsibilities
- Assist servers with maintaining tables and providing timely guest support.
- Set, reset, clear, and maintain tables according to SHO service standards.
- Deliver water and assist with other approved guest-service needs.
- Clear used plates, glassware, utensils, and other items efficiently and professionally.
- Maintain clean, properly stocked service stations.
- Assist with polishing and organizing silverware, glassware, and service items.
- Communicate guest needs promptly to servers and managers.
- Help maintain dining room cleanliness and organization throughout service.
- Assist with opening, closing, and assigned side-work responsibilities.
- Work closely with servers, hosts, food runners, bartenders, managers, and the culinary team.
- Maintain awareness of the dining room and anticipate the needs of guests and team members.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and company procedures.
Service Assistant Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Friendly, professional, and guest-focused demeanor.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Interest in learning restaurant service and developing into a Server position is a plus.
- Must complete all required onboarding and training.
Service Assistant Compensation
$[SERVICE ASSISTANT RATE] per hour plus tips.

Schedule Requirements
Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.
Applicants must be able to work the shifts required by SHO's business and operating needs, including high-volume evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements

- Frequently bend, reach, stoop, twist, squat, push, and pull.

- Regularly lift, carry, move, and stock items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Safely move heavier items with appropriate assistance or equipment when required.
- Safely handle glassware, dishes, bottles, ice, trays, cleaning supplies, and restaurant equipment.
- Move safely and efficiently between dining areas, bar areas, service stations, storage areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Work in a fast-paced environment that may include elevated noise levels, crowded work areas, wet or slippery surfaces, and varying temperatures.
