Job Summary:
The Application Engineer Associate at Benjamin F. Edwards is an entry level technology role designed for curious learners who want to gain hands on exposure to low code and no code platforms, intelligent automation, and AI assisted development in a regulated financial services environment. This role is closely supervised and works under the direct guidance of an experienced Application Engineer mentor while developing foundational skills in low code and no code tools, including BFE’s use of Claude Code. The Associate supports day to day tasks assigned by the mentor and team, with all deliverables reviewed before completion. An interest in financial services and a desire to learn how technology supports financial advisors and clients is core to success in this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist in building and updating simple applications using low-code and no-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, Salesforce Flow, and similar tools, under the direction of a mentor.

Assist with deploying workflow automations, as assigned, that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency across business units.

Attend requirements conversations with stakeholders, under the guidance of senior team members, to gain exposure to how business problems are translated into technology solutions.

Use Claude Code and other AI assisted development tools, with mentor guidance, to support assigned tasks and build familiarity with AI assisted development approaches.

Provide basic support for integrations between platforms and systems, including CRM, productivity, and financial services tools, as directed by senior team members.

Stay informed about emerging tools and platforms relevant to the team's work and share observations with the mentor and team.

Maintain clear documentation for solutions built, automations deployed, and processes supported.

Participate in sprint planning, agile ceremonies, and team knowledge sharing sessions as an active contributor.

Provide light end-user support and enablement for solutions developed by the team, building an understanding of how advisors and associates use technology day to day.

Actively invest in personal growth through certifications, learning programs, and mentorship engagement towards further career progression.
Qualifications:

Genuine curiosity about technology and how it can solve real business problems, particularly in a financial services context.

Exposure to or interest in low-code platforms, automation tools, or AI-assisted development through coursework, self-directed learning, or personal projects.

Familiarity with Claude Code or similar AI-powered development tools is a meaningful differentiator; hands-on experience with vibe coding approaches is strongly welcomed.

Comfort working across multiple tools and platforms simultaneously, with a willingness to learn new ones quickly.

Strong communication skills and an ability to explain technical ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Detail-oriented with good habits around documentation, follow-through, and process adherence.

Collaborative by nature, with an ability to contribute meaningfully in a team setting.

Interest in financial services, wealth management, or the advisor-client relationship is a meaningful differentiator and strongly preferred.
Education and/or Work Experience:

Minimum Education Experience Required: A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Relevant experience, demonstrated skills, certifications or strong portfolio of self-directed work will be considered in its place.

Minimum Work Experience Required: no prior professional technology experience is required. Internships, co-ops, volunteer projects, personal automation builds, or academic capstone work in a relevant area are all valued.

Platform certifications or coursework in tools such as Microsoft Power Platform, Salesforce, Claude Code, or similar low-code and AI-assisted environments is a meaningful plus.

Work Environment:
This position requires the ability to work in a stationary position for several hours at a time and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally. Some filing is required. The work environment is an air-conditioned, smoke-free, office environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
