Job Overview
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for purchasing raw materials, outside processing, tooling, consumable supplies, and production-related services while maintaining adequate inventory levels to support manufacturing operations. This position works closely with Production, Quality, Sales, and Accounting to ensure materials are available when needed, costs are controlled, and customer delivery commitments are met.
Duties
· Purchase raw materials including aluminum, stainless steel, steel, plastics, titanium, and specialty materials.
· Source machining, finishing, heat treating, anodizing, plating, painting, welding, and other outside processing services.
· Obtain competitive quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
· Issue purchase orders through the ERP system.
· Monitor supplier performance for quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
· Expedite late materials and outside services to maintain production schedules.
· Resolve supplier shortages, quality issues, and invoice discrepancies.
Required Qualifications
· 3–5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Ability to read engineering drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs).
· Experience purchasing metals, plastics, tooling, and outside processing services.
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
· Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
· Aerospace or precision machining manufacturing experience.
· Experience with Shoptech E2 ERP or similar manufacturing ERP system.
· Knowledge of AS9100 quality management system requirements.
· Knowledge of aerospace raw material, tooling, and outside processing suppliers.
· Understanding of material certifications, traceability, and documentation requirements.
· Working knowledge of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and export compliance awareness.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
