Position Overview
The Substitute School Nurse promotes student health and safety by delivering professional nursing care within the school setting. This role supports students, faculty, and staff to ensure a healthy and productive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Nursing Care – Provide care to students and staff who visit the health office for minor injuries, illnesses, and medication administration.
- Health Assessments & Screenings – Conduct assessments and screenings to identify health issues, providing appropriate interventions or referrals as necessary.
- Record Maintenance – Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students, including immunization records, health history, and medication logs.
- Collaboration – Work with school administrators, teachers, and parents to develop and implement health policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy school environment.
- Health Education – Educate students, staff, and parents on health topics like nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
Qualifications
- Active Pennsylvania RN or LPN License (Required)
- Current CPR Certification
- Minimum of one (1) year of professional nursing experience preferred
- PA Department of Education clearances required
- Fingerprints clearance – reimbursement provided!
