Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of public school laws in Maryland and bylaws of the State Board of Education and the policies of the Board of Education of Prince Georges County;

Thorough knowledge of the interscholastic athletic programs of the State of Maryland and Prince George's County;

Thorough knowledge of the federal, state, and PGCPS policies, procedures, rules, and regulations related to athletics;

Knowledge of current research, trends and federal, state and local laws and regulations governing athletics;

Ability to use computer technology in an administrative and educational setting;

Ability to work well with diverse groups of people including but not limited to central office personnel, principals, teachers, parents, coaches, and students;

Excellent organizational ability and good human relation skills;
-
Excellent communication skills as well a problem solving and consensus building expertise; and
-
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a complex school system, and support athletic programming.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in curriculum and instruction, administration, or a closely related field required; Doctorate degree preferred. A minimum of ve (5) years of instructional experience and three (3) years of administrative and/or supervisory experience required, including some knowledge of interscholastic athletics policies and procedures; previous experience as a Principal preferred.
Certification:
Holds or is eligible for a valid professional license in Administrator I (historical) or Supervisor of Instruction, Assistant Principal, or Principal issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) or Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees and provides guidance and direction to the unit staff.
