Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support to clients with various needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's, or neurodevelopmental disorders
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), such as meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping to maintain a safe and comfortable environment
- Monitor patients’ health and reporting any changes or concerns promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support patient transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensure manual handling safety during patient transfers or repositioning
- Maintain detailed documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and care plan protocols while ensuring confidentiality at all times
- Communicate effectively with clients and their families to understand needs, preferences, and provide emotional support that fosters trust and comfort
Requirements
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments with a focus on patient observation and personalized care
- Knowledge of dementia care, memory care techniques, hospice care practices, and Alzheimer’s support strategies
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper manual handling techniques; experience with patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts is preferred
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance and home & community care standards is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders and collaborate with healthcare teams
