Industrial Engineer
An established manufacturing company in Dalton, Georgia is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support process improvement, production optimization, and operational excellence within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, increasing operational efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about optimizing production systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing processes and apply engineering principles to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Develop and optimize production methods, workflows, equipment layouts, and material flow using CAD software and other engineering tools.
- Evaluate production schedules, engineering specifications, and operational data to establish effective manufacturing processes.
- Support tooling, equipment, capital project, and material requirements for new and existing production initiatives.
- Develop labor utilization standards, manufacturing methods, and cost analysis models to improve operational performance.
- Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and management teams to establish and maintain manufacturing standards.
- Analyze workflow, facility layout, and production sequencing to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, waste reduction, productivity, and cost savings.
- Utilize statistical analysis and engineering data to improve product quality and manufacturing reliability.
- Recommend corrective actions based on production data, testing results, and process evaluations.
- Support capacity planning, future production growth, and strategic manufacturing initiatives.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and engineering recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred.
- Candidates without a degree may be considered with at least five (5) years of progressive engineering, manufacturing, or project management experience.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and process optimization methodologies.
- Experience using CAD software and statistical analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification related to Industrial Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement.
- Experience with cost analysis, value engineering, and production planning.
- Experience implementing process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing facility and requires regular interaction with production operations. The work environment includes both office and plant floor settings and may involve exposure to moving machinery, manufacturing equipment, industrial noise, varying temperatures, dust, and other typical manufacturing conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated production areas.
