Position Summary
The Facilities Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operations, maintenance, and presentation of the Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, organized, and event-ready for guests, performers, clients, and staff.
The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and capable of performing a variety of physical tasks in a fast-paced entertainment venue.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Perform daily building and grounds inspections to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and operational.
· Complete routine building upkeep including light janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and cleaning of public and backstage areas.
· Receive incoming deliveries, verify shipments, and organize inventory in designated storage locations.
· Assist with venue setup and breakdown by moving tables, chairs, staging, barricades, pipe and drape, furniture, and other event equipment.
· Configure meeting rooms, banquet spaces, theaters, and event areas according to setup diagrams and supervisor instructions.
· Perform light maintenance and repair tasks including replacing light bulbs, tightening hardware, minor painting, changing ceiling tiles, and other general maintenance duties.
· Assist with outdoor maintenance including litter removal, seasonal cleanup, pressure washing, snow removal, and general grounds upkeep.
· Monitor the facility for maintenance issues and report repair needs promptly.
· Maintain organization of storage rooms, maintenance areas, loading docks, and equipment.
· Serve as a runner by transporting equipment, supplies, and materials throughout the venue as directed.
· Assist other departments with operational needs during events.
· Safely operate hand tools, ladders, carts, pallet jacks, and other maintenance equipment.
· Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED preferred.
· Previous experience in facilities maintenance, custodial work, event operations, warehouse, construction, or related field is preferred.
· Basic knowledge of hand tools and minor repairs.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent reliability and punctuality.
· Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work both indoors and outdoors.
· Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
· Ability to push and pull loaded carts and equipment.
· Comfortable working on ladders and in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
Work Environment
This position works in a performing arts center and event venue where schedules vary based on performances, concerts, festivals, banquets, and community events. Work may involve exposure to loud noise, changing weather conditions, and frequent interaction with staff, vendors, performers, and the public.

Pay: $15.92 - $20.00 per hour
