Job Title: Environmental Services Technician (EVS)
Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly hospital environment by performing a wide range of custodial and housekeeping tasks in patient rooms and common areas. You help ensure a sanitary setting for patients, visitors, and staff through consistent, high-quality cleaning and sanitation practices.
Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect patient rooms, including discharging rooms after patients leave, following established hospital protocols.

Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, and wiping surfaces in facilities, common areas, break rooms, and bathrooms.

Carry out terminal cleaning procedures in areas exposed to bodily fluids and infectious diseases, adhering to safety and infection control standards.

Clean and sanitize bathrooms and all common areas to maintain a hygienic and orderly environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Handle and dispose of waste and cleaning materials safely, in accordance with hospital guidelines and sanitation procedures.

Use appropriate cleaning agents, tools, and equipment to complete daily tasks efficiently and effectively.

Follow detailed instructions and cleaning schedules provided during training to ensure consistent quality of service.

Work collaboratively with the broader hospital team, demonstrating a team-oriented attitude and strong customer service when interacting with staff and visitors.

Adapt to working in areas where bodily fluids and infectious diseases may be present, maintaining strict adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.

Remain on your feet for extended periods, performing frequent standing, bending, and moving throughout the shift to complete assigned tasks.
Essential Skills

At least 1 year of experience working in a hospital environment, with exposure to housekeeping or environmental services.

Hands-on experience in custodial, janitorial, or cleaning roles, including mopping, sweeping, and general sanitation tasks.

Experience in housekeeping or EVS technician work, with the ability to follow hospital cleaning and disinfection procedures.

Understanding of sanitation practices in healthcare settings, including terminal cleaning and working around bodily fluids and infectious diseases.

Strong customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Physical ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the entire shift while performing cleaning duties.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in janitorial or housekeeping roles in healthcare or similar high-standards environments.

Familiarity with hospital-specific cleaning protocols and infection control procedures.

Comfort working in all areas of the hospital, following all safety guidelines.

Willingness to work assigned shifts, including first shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), second shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.) and third shift (11 p.m.-7:30 a.m.), as needed.

Ability to learn and apply new cleaning techniques and safety procedures during training.

Work Environment
You work in a busy hospital setting that includes patient rooms, bathrooms, break rooms, and various common areas. You spend most of the day standing, bending, and moving throughout the facility while completing assigned tasks. Shifts typically include first shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), second shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), and third shift (11 p.m.-7:30 a.m.). Personal protective equipment is provided and used regularly to support safe work practices in this clinical environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Torrance, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
