PROJECT OVERVIEW
Wellcare PAL is seeking an experienced and self-directed Operations Project Coordinator for a defined 100-day project engagement at our motorcoach transportation facility in East Los Angeles. This contractor will independently manage a scope of operational, procurement, compliance, and fleet coordination deliverables over the course of the project term. The contractor is expected to exercise independent judgment in executing all project responsibilities and will not be subject to direct supervision over the manner or means of their work.
ENGAGEMENT DETAILS
Contract Type: Independent Contractor (1099) — Project-Based Engagement
Project Duration: 100 Days
Compensation: $4,000 – $8,000 for the full project term, determined by experience and deliverable performance
Schedule: Fully flexible and self-directed. No assigned hours. The contractor determines their own work schedule and methods, provided all project deliverables are completed within the contract term.
Location: On-site at Wellcare PAL facility, East Los Angeles, CA
Post-Project: A longer-term engagement may be offered based on project performance.
PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK
The contractor will independently manage and deliver the following within the 100-day project period:
- Conduct scheduled safety and quality assurance inspections of the fleet and facility, documenting findings and ensuring compliance with DOT/CHP regulations.
- Manage a vendor sourcing project to identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with approved suppliers for bus and fleet parts, securing competitive pricing and reliable supply.
- Oversee parts procurement: issue purchase orders, verify pricing, track deliveries, and reconcile invoices against approved budgets.
- Develop and maintain an accurate inventory management system, ensuring critical parts are stocked and replenishment is executed proactively.
- Serve as the coordination point between the mechanical and maintenance functions to assess parts needs and ensure timely fulfillment.
- Support fleet dispatch operations by managing bus scheduling and assignment logistics as needed during the project term.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all procurement activity, fleet service requests, deliveries, and operational data throughout the engagement.
- Ensure facility cleanliness and maintenance standards are upheld, conducting site assessments and initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Execute ad-hoc operational project tasks across departments as assigned, within the defined scope of this engagement.
CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a project scope with multiple concurrent deliverables and minimal oversight.
- Prior experience in operations, procurement, fleet management, logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT/CHP regulatory standards as they apply to motorcoach or fleet operations is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping, invoicing, and inventory management.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with vendors, mechanics, and operational staff.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform active, on-site inspections and facility walkthroughs.
- Reliable transportation to the East Los Angeles project site is required.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR NOTICE
This is a project-based independent contractor engagement. The selected individual will be classified as a 1099 independent contractor and will retain full control over the manner, means, and schedule by which project deliverables are completed. This engagement does not establish an employment relationship with Wellcare PAL, and the contractor will be solely responsible for all applicable tax obligations. Wellcare PAL does not provide benefits, workers’ compensation, or withholding under this engagement.
