The Senior Manager, Technical Systems & AV provides operational leadership & technical oversight for Delta Flight Museum’s audiovisual and integrated technical systems that support exhibitions, programs, visitor experiences, digital media displays, and facility rental events. This role ensures system reliability, performance, and continuous improvement through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation standards, and lifecycle management. Serving as both a hands-on technical expert and team leader, the Senior Manager supervises a small technical staff, coordinates with external vendors and collaborates across departments to ensure technology systems remain stable, maintainable and aligned with museum priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee AV and technical systems supporting exhibits, digital media displays, and event spaces.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues across projection systems, audio systems, media playback devices, control platforms, and networked AV infrastructure.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical problems.
- Ensure museum AV systems are ready to support internal programs & external rental events.
- Coordinate technical requirements with external event rental planners & external AV teams.
- Establish and implement clear procedures for troubleshooting, documentation, system maintenance, and preventative maintenance schedules for AV and technical systems to ensure system reliability.
- Maintain system documentation, configuration records, and equipment inventories.
- Evaluate system performance and recommend upgrades or replacements as system age.
- Research emerging technologies relevant to museums and visitor engagement.
- Supervise a small technical team and coordinate work with external AV vendors and service providers.
- Contribute to long-term technology planning and capital improvement discussions.
