Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. Your primary responsibility will be to assist patients with daily living activities while ensuring their comfort and safety. The ideal candidate will have experience in critical care, geriatrics, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Provide basic patient care under the supervision of nursing staff.
- Assist in mobility and transferring patients using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Support patients with medication administration as directed by nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding patient needs and updates.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to patient care and safety.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant or in a similar caregiving role is preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks is advantageous.
- Experience in critical care settings (ICU, PICU) or long-term care facilities (nursing homes, assisted living) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices is essential.
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) techniques and understand aseptic techniques.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team are necessary.
