Since 2005, Nonprofit Staten Island (formerly known as the Staten Island Not for Profit Association), a 501c3 membership organization, has provided resources, support, and advocacy for the borough’s nonprofit community. The Association was created to provide a single "voice" for nonprofits in Staten Island, and to enhance the economic and social impact that nonprofits provide to Staten Island communities. Members include 150+ cultural institutions, faith-based organizations, health care providers, senior & youth service providers, and local community groups that provide services and programs for our diverse Staten Island communities and neighborhoods.
Guided by our pillars of Community Voice, Community Response, and Community Building, Nonprofit Staten Island strengthens the borough’s nonprofit ecosystem through capacity-building programs, coalition leadership, civic engagement initiatives, and cross-sector partnerships. We connect organizations to resources, amplify community priorities, and help ensure Staten Island nonprofits have the support they need to serve residents effectively and equitably.
Position Summary
The Senior Program Coordinator is a part-time role responsible for the implementation and growth of Nonprofit Staten Island’s Nonprofit On the Go programming, a borough-wide workforce and leadership development initiative for the nonprofit sector.
This role will manage a portfolio of professional development programming designed to strengthen the skills, stability, and advancement pathways of nonprofit professionals, with a particular focus on supporting Hispanic leaders and Latino- and immigrant-serving organizations and communities.
The Senior Program Coordinator will lead the planning, coordination, and facilitation of On the Go programming, including a structured Action Learning cohort, a rotating workshop series, and partnership-driven learning opportunities. This role also supports mentorship and peer-learning connectivity across the sector, helping to build a more equitable and resilient nonprofit workforce.
This is a part-time, hybrid position averaging 20–25 hours per week and reports to the Director of Programs & Development.
Primary Responsibilities
I. Nonprofit On the Go Program Leadership & Implementation
Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of NPSI’s Nonprofit On the Go initiative as a core workforce and leadership development platform.
- Manage the full lifecycle of On the Go programming, including planning, scheduling, facilitation, and follow-up.
- Lead implementation of a six-month Action Learning cohort, including recruitment, onboarding, and participant engagement.
- Coordinate and deliver a scaffolded mini-series of workshops focused on transferable skills, operational effectiveness, and community-centered practice.
- Integrate bilingual and culturally responsive approaches into program design and develop practical tools and resources for participant use.
- Adapt programming in response to participant feedback, emerging sector needs, and organizational priorities.
II. Partnership Development & Sector Integration
Build and maintain partnerships that connect learning to real-world application and sector advancement.
- Coordinate with partner organizations to support program outreach, participation, and relevance.
- Identify opportunities to connect programming to real-world application, employer priorities, and advancement pathways.
- Support integration of participants into broader NPSI initiatives, including Affinity Groups, advocacy efforts, and coalition work.
- Facilitate engagement with sector leaders, funders, and subject matter experts.
III. Mentorship, Peer Learning & Participant Engagement
Support structured and informal pathways for leadership development and peer connection.
- Coordinate mentorship and coaching components, including participant matching and ongoing engagement.
- Foster peer learning through cohort-based and workshop environments.
- Maintain strong participant relationships to support retention, engagement, and continued involvement.
IV. Program Facilitation, Outreach & Communications Support
Support the visibility, accessibility, and effectiveness of On the Go programming.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate workshops, cohort sessions, and stakeholder conversations as appropriate.
- Draft program-related outreach content and coordinate with NPSI’s Communications team to promote programming and share outcomes.
- Manage registration, attendance tracking, and participant communications.
- Ensure materials and sessions are accessible, including coordination of bilingual supports.
V. Data Tracking, Evaluation & Reporting
Support program learning, accountability, and impact measurement.
- Track participation, attendance, and engagement across all program components.
- Collect and analyze participant feedback, including surveys and follow-up data.
- Document program outcomes, including skill gains and application of learning.
- Support reporting aligned with grant requirements and contribute to case studies or impact examples.
VI. Collaborative Support & Organizational Stewardship
- Provide support across NPSI programming as needed, including workshops, roundtables, and events.
- Maintain internal trackers, calendars, and documentation related to program delivery.
- Contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven team culture grounded in accountability and shared purpose.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a self-directed, relationship-driven professional with experience in program coordination and a strong interest in workforce and leadership development within the nonprofit sector.
- 3–5 years of experience in program coordination, workforce development, nonprofit operations, or related fields.
- Experience facilitating or supporting trainings, workshops, or group learning environments.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with outreach, communications, and event coordination.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Zoom, and basic program tracking tools.
- Familiarity with Staten Island’s nonprofit landscape preferred.
- Spanish language skills or experience working in bilingual environments strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate: $30–$40 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Part-time, 20–25 hours per week, with occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed.
