Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Part-Time Technical Designer specializing in Interior Design to join our team.
This position will focus primarily on space planning and drafting. The Technical Designer will work from sketches, markups, inspiration images, project selections and design direction provided by the Principal Designer to develop floor plans, elevations and detailed interior drawings.
We are currently looking to fill a part-time role, however
Responsibilities
- Develop preliminary space plans and furniture layouts for review
- Translate sketches and design direction into accurate technical drawings
- Produce and revise floor plans, elevations and reflected ceiling plans
- Draft custom cabinetry, millwork, built-ins and architectural details
- Prepare lighting, electrical, finish and plumbing-fixture plans as needed
- Incorporate Principal Designer, client and contractor feedback into drawing revisions
- Research product dimensions, clearances and installation requirements
- Coordinate drawings with selected appliances, fixtures, furnishings and finishes
- Identify missing information or potential conflicts before drawings are issued
- Maintain organized drawing sets, schedules, specifications and revision records
Skills
- Degree or advanced coursework in interior design, interior architecture, architecture or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Revit; AutoCAD or comparable drafting experience is also valuable
- Ability to read and produce interior design and construction drawings
- Understanding of dimensions, scale, clearances and basic construction methods
- Strong space-planning and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization
- Ability to follow established design direction while contributing thoughtful technical solutions
- Comfortable managing assigned deliverables independently and meeting weekly deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Position Details
- Part-time, approximately 10–15 hours per week initially
- Flexible schedule with established weekly deliverables
- Combination of independent work and in-person collaboration in the Kansas City area

Pay: Up to $45.00 per hour
