A well-established precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Tool Room Supervisor to lead day-to-day tool room operations supporting metal stamping and machined component production.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone with a strong Tool & Die, Jig & Fixture, or stamping tooling background who enjoys troubleshooting, developing employees, improving processes, and keeping production supplied with reliable, high-quality tooling.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the Tool Room
- Ensure tools, dies, fixtures, and components meet blueprint, drawing, and quality specifications
- Prioritize tooling repairs, maintenance, and new tooling requirements based on production needs
- Troubleshoot tooling performance issues, recurring repairs, damage, and premature tool wear
- Provide technical guidance and support to Toolmakers and other department employees
- Monitor employee performance, conduct reviews, provide coaching, and develop employee skills
- Support tooling for progressive and compound metal stamping operations
- Assist with the fabrication, repair, and modification of jigs, fixtures, dies, and master tooling
- Ensure proper setup and operation of machine tools used within the Tool Room
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements
- Create and maintain reports related to new tooling, repairs, maintenance, and department activity
- Utilize ERP systems to create tooling jobs, track labor allocation, attendance, and department activity
- Communicate Tool Room priorities, issues, and progress to manufacturing leadership
- 5+ years of Tool & Die, Jig & Fixture, or related tooling experience
- Strong knowledge of progressive and/or compound dies used in metal stamping
- Experience setting up and operating machine tools
- Ability to fabricate, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain tooling
- Strong blueprint and tool design drawing interpretation skills
- Ability to produce finished components from engineering drawings or concepts
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead experience strongly preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing quality systems and ISO procedures
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with ERP systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Technical education or formal Tool & Die training is a plus
