Position Overview
MedPlus Physician Group is seeking a licensed and patient-focused Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our growing Dallas practice.
The PTA will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality, individualized treatment to patients with orthopedic, musculoskeletal and functional mobility conditions.
This position is well suited for a PTA who enjoys working in a collaborative outpatient environment and is comfortable treating patients recovering from motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, surgeries and other personal injury-related conditions.

Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Carry out established plans of care according to the Physical Therapist’s instructions
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretching, strengthening, balance and mobility activities
- Perform manual techniques and therapeutic modalities within the PTA’s education, training and legal scope
- Assist patients with gait training, transfers, functional mobility and the proper use of assistive devices
- Observe and document patients’ responses to treatment
- Communicate changes in a patient’s condition, tolerance or progress to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Provide patients with education regarding exercises, body mechanics, injury prevention and home programs established by the Physical Therapist
- Maintain timely, accurate and complete treatment documentation
- Assist with obtaining required outcome measurements and progress information
- Follow established safety, infection-control and patient-care procedures
- Maintain treatment areas and equipment in a clean, safe and organized condition
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, providers and clinic staff
- Participate in team meetings, training and quality-improvement activities
- Follow all clinic policies, payer requirements and applicable Texas physical therapy regulations
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Active and unrestricted Texas Physical Therapist Assistant license
- Current CPR or Basic Life Support certification, or ability to obtain certification before beginning employment
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise, functional mobility and physical rehabilitation techniques
- Strong clinical documentation and communication skills
- Ability to follow an established plan of care and recognize when a patient’s condition should be reported to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Ability to work independently within the PTA’s assigned responsibilities while collaborating with the Physical Therapist and clinical team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Commitment to ethical, professional and patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous outpatient physical therapy experience
- Experience treating orthopedic or musculoskeletal conditions
- Experience treating patients following motor vehicle accidents or personal injuries
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary medical practice
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills

Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
- Day shift
- No overnight shifts
- Specific clinic hours will be discussed during the interview process
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and move throughout the workday
- Ability to demonstrate therapeutic exercises and mobility techniques
- Ability to assist patients with transfers, positioning and mobility when clinically appropriate
- Ability to safely lift or move equipment and provide physical assistance consistent with the requirements of the position

This is an in-person position located in Dallas, Texas.
