Position Summary:
We are seeking a warm, creative, and energetic Activities Director to join our team. You will be responsible for planning and leading therapeutic and recreational activities to promote the social connections and emotional well-being of our residents.
The Activities Director will perform duties in keeping with the mission of Little Sisters of the Poor, namely caring for the aged poor with love, respect and dignity. “Making the elderly happy, that is what counts” was a saying of the Little Sisters of the Poor foundress Saint Jeanne Jugan. Central to this philosophy is promotion of a holistic approach for our Residents in an atmosphere of kindness, respect and family spirit.
The Activities Director must have:
- Minimum credentials required by the State for the position, and 3 years of experience in a social or recreational programs in long term care preferred.
- Knowledge, experience, and skills in recreational programs such as: arts, crafts, music, re-motivation techniques or reality orientation.
- Understanding and adherence to the standards of "a recognized accrediting body" that includes but is not limited to certification by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.
- Ability to plan and execute an activities program designed to meet the individual and collective needs of geriatric Residents at all levels of care.
Job Responsibilities:
The Activities Director will:
- *Full responsibility for planning, implementing, and directing departmental activity program suited to the needs and interests of Residents.
- *Establish comprehensive assessments to identify and meet the Resident's needs and activity potential.
- *Document programming and Resident participation accurately including assessments, progress notes and program goals.
- Arrange activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional health.
- Organize supportive activities that provide stimulation or solace to Residents who cannot generally benefit from either maintenance or empowerment activities.
- Assume responsibilities for off-site activities, providing Residents with opportunities for contacts with and involvement in the community.
- Attend resident Care Plan meetings as required.
