Overview:
The Athletic Director at SkyView Academy (SVA) is responsible for managing the athletic and student enrichment sports programs for students in grades 6-12. This includes direct responsibility and supervision for the programs and staff in each of the following areas: Athletic Coaches and club sports on campus. This full-time position will include a standard 40-hour work week, however, the daily schedule for the Athletic Director will be adjusted to reflect management of multiple evening activities and/or athletic competitions. The Athletic Director works to assess SVA sports adherence to the SVA vision and mission and to set short- and long-term goals for the school.

Athletic Program
The primary job responsibilities for the Athletic Director to include but not limited to:

Work with the Upper School Principal, staff, faculty, and coaches to develop a quality athletic 6-12 program;

Review the Athletic Handbook and propose revisions annually to the Upper School Principal;

Supervise Athletic Assistant and staff and delegate tasks as necessary;
-
Hire, train and communicate regularly with coaches, athletic mentors, and trainers;
-
Oversee both the MS/HS sports programs
-
Oversee the Athletic pages on the school website;
-
Manage internal updates and events to the SVA Faculty and Staff;
-
Oversee the Athletic and club sports calendar for home and away games;
-
Assist in the responsibility for certification of coaching staff in accordance with CHSAA;
-
Assure that coaches and players adhere to the CHSAA guidelines and the SkyView Academy Athletic and Employee Handbook rules and regulations;
-
Verify that all athletes are academically and medically eligible to compete;
-
Oversee that all athletes have paid required fees;
-
Oversee competitions, secure officials, and develop transportation plans for all away competitions;

Provide or assign event managers to supervise home competitions;
-
Plan for awards banquets each year and keep records of all awards/letters issued;

Manage home practice and playing facilities;

Work closely with staff and SkyView Academy administration to enforce school rules, policies and social contracts, including sportsmanship agreements for athletes and parent spectators;

Responsible for the Athletic Department budget;

Maintain an accurate inventory of all uniforms and equipment related to all sports

Approve the purchase of all equipment and uniforms and ensure that each varsity coach maintains an accurate inventory of all equipment and materials, and file such inventory with the Upper School Principal and Business Manager at the conclusion of each season;

Assume the responsibility for the safety and welfare of students whenever danger is observed during all athletic events (practice, game, etc.); and

Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Knowledge:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
-
Minimum two years of appropriate athletic leadership experience, including a minimum of 2 years athletic program management experience

Ability to collaborate with a team of strong leaders
