POSITION: Academic Advisor
LOCATION: Williston, ND

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full time, 12-month, exempt, benefitted position.
BACKGROUND CHECK: WSC does require a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to beginning employment.
JOB SUMMARY: The Advisor helps to facilitate students’ career, educational, and personal growth: by providing academic support and guidance for (current/prospective) students and faculty in the areas of advising, registration, student referrals, career counseling, academic standing, and other student issues and related activities. The advisor reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs and works in collaboration with various staff and faculty to offer support services to students – focusing on students’ success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning, organizing, conducting, and directing activities/initiatives for student retention programming.

Assisting individual students and student groups with academic and life skills assessment, development and planning.

Create academic goal plans for students using SEPs.

Assist individual students and student groups with graduation planning and graduation audits.

Manage Starfish Enterprise Success Platform.

Manage WSC probation and suspension student follow-up and success coordination.

Manage WSC excessive absences and in danger of failing student follow-up and success coordination.

Manage and develop retention processes incorporating the use of various technologies.

Administer and assist with analysis of Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE).

Collect, analyze, and maintain assessment data for academic achievement; develop reports and provide data, collaborate with Institutional Research to ensure accuracy and data integrity.

Other related duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required; knowledge or principles, concepts and methodology of admissions, student academic records and enrollment data collection and analysis; must have the ability to speak well and present a good public appearance; proficient in working knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, etc. and Outlook email and calendar).
SALARY: $47,000 - $52,000 based on experience plus excellent benefit package
