GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This job requires bartender to interact with, entertain, and build a rapport with our guests. The essence of the role is based on above and beyond service. It is required that our teammates promote our food, beverage, and merchandise to the guests. Our image is wholesome, and friendly. You must provide attentive service to create an exceptional dining experience for our guests. Each team member’s primary objective is to show our guests a great time, so they will return again and again. The bartender’s image is based on the wholesome and classic Girl or Boy next door image. As a bartender you must master the skills of the server position first and foremost. We take great pride in our quality beverages and our friendly, responsive, and quality service. You have been chosen for this position because of your skill and experience. You are considered a leader in the front of house; you must lead by example for the rest of the staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.) Complete all opening duties, during shift duties, and closing duties.
2.) Expectation is to follow the Bar Book on cleaning and operational guidelines.
3.) Greet guests sincerely and warmly.
4.) Tell guests your name, address guests by their first name. This helps create regulars.
5.) Have high energy and be a self-motivated team member
6.) Know and understand the Jakes concept and menu.
7.) Serve every guest with extraordinary and consistent service.
8.) Prepare Jakes drinks according to recipe specifications and garnish.
9.) Follow and execute the 8 Steps of Service on every guest interaction, every shift, without exception to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
10.) Serve drinks responsibly in accordance with our 12 Steps of Responsible Service. Always get a manager involved when in question on guest service.
11.) Manage the bar organization to ensure guests are served in a timely manner.
12.) Keep the bar area clean throughout shifts and weekly scheduled special clean-ups.
13.) Sweeping , mopping and scrubbing floors as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
No education is needed to start as a bartender, and much of what you will learn will be through Jakes training. You may have to be 18 or older to serve alcohol, depending on the state.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate in the English language. Must be able to read and understand the menu, write and ring in tickets, and utilize a computerized register system. Must be able to suggestively sell menu items. Must be able to communicate effectively with guests.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Ability to mathematically compute proper change and accurately settle checks.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must attend Orientation and agree to policies and procedures as outlined in the Jakes Employee Handbook. Must attend and successfully complete the Jakes bartender training program prior to working a shift without supervision.
Must successfully attend and complete any and all other required training in compliance with local and state regulations, such as food and/or alcohol service certifications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
As a Jakes bartender you will be walking or standing throughout your shift. You may also be required to carry, pull, and push up to 25 pounds.

Pay: $10.00 - $50.00 per hour
