Overview
Prestonwood Landscape Services is seeking a dependable Assistant Mechanic to support our Mechanic with daily shop operations. Our repair shop is located at our San Antonio branch.
The primary responsibility of this position is maintaining and repairing commercial landscaping equipment, including zero-turn mowers, string trimmers, blowers, edgers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and other small-engine equipment. The Assistant Mechanic will also help perform preventive maintenance and light repairs on company trucks, fleet vehicles, and trailers.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Mechanic with daily repairs and preventive maintenance of commercial landscaping equipment and company vehicles
- Diagnose and repair commercial landscaping equipment, including zero-turn mowers, string trimmers, blowers, edgers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and other two-cycle and four-cycle equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug replacements, belt replacements, blade sharpening, and other routine service
- Perform oil changes, tire rotations and replacements, battery replacements, brake service, and other light maintenance on company trucks and fleet vehicles
- Inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on company trailers
- Use OBDII scanners, diagnostic software, and other technology to assist with troubleshooting vehicle and equipment issues
- Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records using company systems
- Keep tools, parts inventory, and the repair shop clean, organized, and properly stocked
- Pick up parts and supplies as needed
- Help ensure all equipment and vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready to support daily landscaping operations
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Experience repairing small engines or commercial landscaping equipment preferred
- Basic experience performing maintenance and light repairs on trucks and trailers
- Comfortable using technology, including OBDII scanners and diagnostic software
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
