Summary: We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Maintenance Technician I to join our manufacturing team in Chicopee, MA. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and learning how equipment operates.The Maintenance Technician I will support the upkeep of approximately 10 production machines and assist with preventative maintenance activities to keep our operations running efficiently. The position also includes general building and facility maintenance responsibilities.As experience and technical knowledge grow, this individual will have opportunities to develop troubleshooting and repair skills on production equipment and advance into higher-level maintenance responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment.
- Assist with routine inspections and servicing of manufacturing machinery.
- Support basic troubleshooting and repairs under the guidance of experienced personnel as needed.
- Complete general facility maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and upkeep of building systems.
- Identify and report potential equipment issues before they result in downtime.
- Maintain maintenance logs and records of completed work.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
- Work closely with production personnel to support operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in equipment maintenance are required.
- Previous experience in maintenance, manufacturing, automotive repair, machine technology, electrical work, construction trades, or similar hands-on environments is preferred.
- Technical school, vocational training, or related certifications are a plus but not required.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and follow maintenance instructions and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new equipment and systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, climbing, and reaching throughout the shift.
