Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Execute food preparation tasks such as slicing, dicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients with precision using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations in compliance with food safety standards and safety protocols in production
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods
- Follow food handling procedures to ensure proper storage, sanitation, and safety throughout the kitchen
- Support catering events and large meal preparations by efficiently managing multiple orders simultaneously
- Ensure all food served meets quality standards for taste, presentation, and safety
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is highly preferred
- Culinary experience with a focus on food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety management
- Familiarity with dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Demonstrated knowledge of food industry standards regarding safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Experience in meal preparation, food handling, and serving within a fast-paced setting
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
