JOB This position generally involves managing resources to perform a large volume of work on City properties and medians to “Manage Growth.” Responsibilities include mowing, edging, trimming, mulching, irrigating, collecting and removing debris, planting and removing trees, flowers, and shrubs, and applying fertilizers as needed to maintain existing park properties. This position reports to the Public Properties Operations Manager EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Maintains and repairs park and median properties.

Operates heavy equipment such as loaders, dump trucks, bucket trucks, and other maintenance equipment.

Completes work orders as required and assigned.

Cross-trains and works in other divisions as needed.

May apply chemicals and natural treatments to control plant diseases.

May be required to work outside normal hours during emergencies, such as strong storms, tornadoes, and hurricanes.

May be scheduled for on-call duty.

Performs related tasks as required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions-
This is heavy work requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (with assistance or tools).

Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions.

Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas verbally.

Hearing is necessary to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.

Visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, and visual inspections involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm’s length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
