Potbelly Sandwich Shop is seeking reliable and professional Catering Delivery Drivers to transport and potentially set up catering orders from our shop(s) to our customers. As a 1099 contractor, you'll have the flexibility to accept deliveries that fit your schedule while supporting a beloved brand known for great food and service.
This opportunity is ideal for someone already engaged in gig or freelance delivery work who wants to supplement their income with scheduled catering deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver catering orders promptly, safely, and courteously.
- Follow delivery instructions sent via text message or EZ Catering platform.
- Assist with basic setup upon request (e.g., placing food, condiments, and utensils on a table in a presentable manner).
- Use provided hot bags to keep food warm and organized during transport.
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with shop managers and customers.
- Represent Potbelly with a positive, customer-focused attitude.
Compensation:
- Flat-rate per delivery, based on distance and order size:
- $20 for deliveries within 5 miles
- $25 for deliveries between 5.1 and 10 miles
- $30 for deliveries between 10.1 and 15 miles
- $50-$75 for large catering orders over $1,000 in value
- All rates apply to one-way delivery distance only, not round trip
- Paid bi-weekly via direct deposit or check
- No tips included
- Drivers are responsible for tracking their own mileage and vehicle expenses for tax purposes
Work Flexibility:
- Delivery opportunities are optional and typically offered with at least 24 hours' notice.
- You are free to accept or decline any delivery.
- Being open to deliveries from other locations as well (Morrisville, Cary, and Durham) may increase your earning potential.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Own a reliable vehicle with enough space for larger catering orders
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Auto insurance with minimum coverage of $50,000 per person/ $100,000 per accident.
- Ability to lift and carry up to $50 lbs.
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
- Previous delivery experience is a plus, but not required.
Please Note: This is an independent contractor (1099) role. You are not an employee of Potbelly Sandwich Shop and are responsible for your own taxes, mileage tracking, and scheduling.
