Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our dynamic eye care team. While an ideal candidate would have previous experience in this role, we are willing to train a willing applicant. A person with a Medical Assistant or Nurses Assistant certificate would also be a good candidate. You will support the optometrists by preparing patients for examinations, operating specialized ophthalmic equipment, and ensuring a smooth and efficient clinic flow. Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems accurately
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment including auto refractor, tonometry devices, ERG, visual field device and ophthalmic imaging tools to gather precise diagnostic data.
- Conduct preliminary eye assessments like visual acuity measurements, and basic ocular health evaluations.
- Maintain strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times.
- Cross trained in front desk duties including scheduling appointments, processing medical records, and assisting with billing or coding as needed.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or eye clinic is preferred, but we will train the right applicant that is willing to learn.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology principles relevant to ophthalmic care.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to perform direct patient care with excellent communication skills and a compassionate attitude toward diverse patient populations, including pediatrics.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Basic retail sales skills are a plus for assisting with optical sales or product recommendations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while multitasking between clinical duties and administrative responsibilities.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
