The Donor Information Coordinator (DIC) obtains and reviews donor medical and social information to provide information in determining the eligibility of the donor for transplant and/or research. This individual is responsible for assisting in the timely review, completion and release of all tissue donor records in compliance with LWVI Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), processing partner requests and regulatory requirements. This position requires a proactive team player who must uphold the core values of the organization which include integrity, respect, honor of diversity, personal accountability, creative initiative, teamwork and excellence.

Assist the Donor Information department in the timely compilation, review and release of all tissue donor records in a manner adhering to organizational, industry, and governmental procedures, protocols, and regulations.

Obtains and reviews donor records, including, but not limited to:

Medical records

Gross and final autopsy reports

Donor Risk Assessment Interviews

Recovery documentation
-
Screening information
-
Infectious disease test results
-
Serology and culture reports
-
Coordinates with partner tissue and organ donor agencies to share relevant donor information.

Interacts with Medical Examiners, pathologists, hospitals, hospices, laboratories, Primary Care Physicians and other clinical agencies on donorrelated issues.

Acts as a resource to other staff for problemsolving questions related to chartclearing efforts.

Conducts or participates in formal and informal inservices for new and existing staff.

Manages all interactions with Tissue processors with regards to donor records and all requests for missing or additional information meeting processing partners' goals for timely release of information.

Participates in the training and development of staff within the Donor Information department.

Reviews daily, weekly, and monthly pending information reports from processing partners and ensures that all processors receive regular feedback regarding the status of individual donor records.

Identifies actual and potential obstacles, collects data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Associate degree in science, nursing or another healthcarerelated field is required

Two years of experience in the donation industry may be substituted for the education requirement

Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes a plus

Must have strong verbal, written, and analytical skills.

Must have demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Must demonstrate adaptability to change.

Must be able to effectively work independently and within a team.

Must be able to manage both time and priority constraints and to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Must be able to cope with issues pertaining to death.

Must possess knowledge of medical terminology.

Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
Travel is minimal. May be occasionally required to travel by personal or company automobile or air to meeting sites and other locations.
The work is performed primarily in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
