About Us: At Southwest Freightlines we operate a busy fleet of dry van trailers and focus on keeping equipment safe, compliant, and on the road. We’re looking for a hands-on Trailer Foreman who can lead the shop and stay on top of workflow using our maintenance system.
Position Summary:The Trailer Foreman oversees all maintenance and repair of dry van trailers while managing work orders through our shop maintenance program. This role requires both strong mechanical ability and solid computer/organizational skills to keep operations running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise trailer technicians in daily shop operations
- Assign, prioritize, and track work orders using company maintenance software
- Ensure all trailers meet DOT inspection and compliance standards
- Perform and assist with repairs including:
- Brake systems (air brakes, chambers, slack adjusters)
- Suspension (leaf spring, air ride)
- Electrical and lighting systems
- Doors, floors, roofs, and structural repairs
- Monitor and update repair status in the system to keep workflow accurate
- Inspect completed work for quality and safety
- Coordinate parts and materials to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Enforce shop safety procedures and standards
- Communicate clearly with drivers and management on equipment status
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of dry van trailer repair experience
- Previous leadership or foreman experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of DOT inspections and trailer compliance
- Comfortable using computers and maintenance/work order systems
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple jobs at once
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
