Position Summary:
The Missouri Empowerment Project is seeking a compassionate, client-centered Therapist to provide mental health services to children, youth, and adults involved in the child welfare system. This role is ideal for either a provisionally licensed clinician (e.g., PLPC, LMSW) looking to gain hours toward full licensure or a fully licensed therapist (LPC, LCSW) who is passionate about working with vulnerable families.
The Therapist will provide individual and family therapy, conduct assessments, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support healing, reunification, and long-term success. Services are trauma-informed and designed to address issues such as grief and loss, attachment, behavioral health, substance use, parenting stress, and the impact of child welfare involvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy to clients referred through the child welfare system.
- Complete intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain timely, accurate documentation in accordance with agency and licensing standards.
- Collaborate closely with other MEP program staff—including peer support specialists, parent aides, and case coordinators—to deliver comprehensive, wraparound services and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Participate in case staffing with interdisciplinary teams including child welfare caseworkers and external partners.
- Use trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches that support client growth and family reunification.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.
- Attend supervision and training sessions as required.
- Maintain client confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in quality improvement efforts and program development as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
- Provisional licensure (PLPC, LMSW) or full licensure (LPC, LCSW) in the state of Missouri.
- Experience or strong interest in working with individuals and families involved in the child welfare system.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and child development.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Hourly and contracted positions available
Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour
