Company Description
1820 Brands is a family-owned beverage manufacturer and premier contract packaging facility in Portland, Maine. Building on the legacy of Geary Brewing (Maine’s first craft brewery), we produce a diverse portfolio across multiple categories—including historic craft beers, non-alcoholic beer, RTD canned cocktails, and THC-infused drinks—alongside custom liquids for external brand partners.
Role Description
We are seeking a hardworking Brewer to join our production team. Working directly alongside our established brewers—including a Senior Production Brewer with 30+ years of craft beer knowledge—you will handle day-to-day hot-side and cold-side operations. While this role is highly hands-on, you will also step in to communicate directly with co-packing clients alongside our client relations team whenever your expert technical knowledge is needed to explain run performance or liquid formulation.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Brewing & Cellar Operations: Execute brewing processes and manage cellar tasks (fermentation monitoring, dry hopping, carbonating, and transferring) across a wide spectrum of beverage types (Beer, NA, RTD, THC, Soda, Water).
- Quality & Sanitation: Maintain strict adherence to SOPs, gravity/pH tracking, and rigorous CIP/SIP protocols to ensure clean, non-contaminated environments.
- R&D & Pilot Batches: Run pilot batches for our proprietary portfolio and external contract clients to help bring new liquid concepts to life.
- Client & Team Collaboration: Partner with our client relations team to interface with external co-packing clients, providing technical clarity on how their pilot or full-scale commercial runs performed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Technical Skill: Must have proven familiarity operating a steam brewing system. Experience with pasteurization, filtration, or alternative liquids is a major plus.
- Experience: Professional commercial brewing or cellar experience is required.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills for collaborating with both the internal team and external brand partners.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy production materials, stand for long periods, and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours as dictated by production demands.
