Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our new dental office. In this vital role, you will perform advanced chairside procedures, support the clinical team, and ensure a smooth, efficient patient experience. Duties
- Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence.
- Perform expanded functions such as placing fillings, temporary crowns, and other restorative tasks following state regulations and clinic protocols.
- Take and develop high-quality X-ray images while adhering to HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy and safety.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix efficiently for accurate documentation of patient histories, treatment plans, and medical records.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Maintain strict infection control standards using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Support front desk operations by assisting with dental receptionist duties when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
- Utilize 3D scanners for precise digital impressions and assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all clinical and administrative activities.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team to provide exceptional patient care in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry settings.
Requirements
- Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential or equivalent licensure as per state regulations.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff.
- Excellent chairside assisting skills including four-handed dentistry techniques and vital signs monitoring.
- Knowledge of medical documentation practices including medical coding and record keeping.
- Familiarity with dental imaging equipment such as 3D scanners; experience in prosthodontics or endodontics is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about treatment plans and oral health practices.
