Job Title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Reports To: Residential Manager
Position Summary:
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct behavioral support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. Working under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the RBT implements individualized Behavior Support Plans and skill-building programs to promote independence, improve adaptive functioning, and enhance quality of life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, in-person behavioral services using evidence-based and data-driven practices, including positive behavior supports
- Implement Behavior Support Plans to help individuals develop behavioral, social, self-care, and adaptive skills
- Collect data and provide structured, timely feedback to clinicians regarding client progress and plan effectiveness
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and support staff to reinforce strategies and ensure consistency of care
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions related to behavioral plans and client progress
- Maintain compliance with RBT ethics code, supervision requirements, and organizational policies
- Assist in training staff on behavior support techniques using a person-centered approach
- Monitor client interactions and identify effective engagement strategies
- Communicate changes in client needs to the supervising BCBA and recommend adjustments as necessary
- Support compliance with regulatory inspections, audits, and investigations
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Active RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Knowledge of positive behavior support techniques
- Ability to independently implement behavior plans
- Strong time management and communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift or transfer up to 50 lbs
- Capable of standing, sitting, bending, squatting, and reaching for extended periods
- Ability to respond quickly and safely in active situations, including pursuing clients on foot if necessary
Additional Requirements
- Must pass criminal background check, child abuse registry check, and drug screening
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Performance Standards and Expectations
Work performance is reviewed by the supervisor in accordance with Hudson Hill policies and procedures. Evaluation methods may include, but are not limited to, unannounced site visits, formal assessments, and periodic employee performance evaluations.
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is expected to effectively train and support individuals with developmental disabilities in both residential and community settings. This role requires patience, flexibility in scheduling, and the ability to respond appropriately to emergency and crisis situations.
The position requires the consistent application of sound judgment and professional discretion in all work-related activities, both within and outside of the residence. Clear, professional communication, both written and verbal—is essential and must be maintained when interacting with residents, families, staff, and external stakeholders.
Creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills are necessary to determine and implement effective training methods, supports, and services tailored to individual resident needs.
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
