American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a community hospital night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and an active IN or Compact RN license.

MS/Tele unit within a community hospital setting
-
Sole medsurg unit in the facility, receiving patients from OR, ED, and downgrades from ICU/PCU
-
Unit averages 8-12 admissions over a 24-hour period
-
Target patient ratio of 5:1 with charge nurse out of staffing, though flexing to 6:1 may occur
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)

Cerner EMR experience required
-
Every-other-weekend coverage required
-
Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital, primarily to take medsurg patients in ICU/PCU or ED for holds
-
Active RN license (IN or Compact) required and must be in hand prior to start date

BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Community hospital experience preferred
-
Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Experience with 1:6 patient ratio

Cerner charting system experience required
-
Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
-
Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and oxygen administration
-
Cardiac monitoring skills including telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
-
Experience with wound care, wound vac, and surgical drains
-
Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
-
Two supervisor references required
-
Provide medical-surgical nursing care to patients from OR, ED, and ICU/PCU downgrades

Utilize skills across IV therapy, respiratory care, cardiac monitoring, and wound management
-
Support rapid response and code team activations as needed
-
First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have more than 2 years of experience

Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
-
Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position

Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler

Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must complete a designated break to reset eligibility
